How do I restore a damaged project from the .bak file?
I have never needed to do it. Nevertheless, I would copy the whole folder, just in case.
Then I would apply brute force, deleting the projec.sch and project.kicad_pcb files and renaming the project.bak as projec.sch and project.kicad-pcb-bak as project.kicad_pcb.
Have you tried in pcbnew File->revert to last back up?
