Tutorial says… To add a copper zone select the zone tool from the right toolbar. Click where you want one of the zone corners to end up (Example the top left corner of the board outline).
When I click the Zone Tool nothing happens other than highlight the icon. It just does not seem to do anything.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to see if any zones exist already?
The first click on the toolbar only selects the tool.
After that, click on any place on the PCB where you want to start the zone.
Then a new window pops up with zone settings. In this window you can select the net for the zone and a lot of other things.
Then click [ OK ] and the window goes away and you can add more points to the zone outline.
You can also re-open this window by clicking (or hovering) over the edge of a zone and press “e” for edit.
Once you have one or more zones on your board they should be pretty obvious
I have read your message few times trying to understand. It looks you have used left, but now you use right and using right you have a problem to place zones.
At the end I get to suppose that the line:
you added later making all message difficult to understand.
I know… sorry about that… sometimes after just writing up a question and posting the solution becomes a little clearer and I wish I could just delete the post.
The best and most helpful way to do this is not to edit the text of your post but just add an addendum ‘EDITED’ section at the end - saying ‘I really meant right menu’ or whatever. If you make a change to the original question when someone has already answered, the conversation doesn’t make sense and then you end up with something like this;.
“I only drink coffee”
“How many sugars do you like in your tea?”
“He said he only drinks coffee!!! Why are you asking about tea?”
Also, if you solve the problem yourself, it is much more helpful to leave the post in place and reply with how you solved it and change the title to “How do I like my beverages [SOLVED]”
