… should be the same and as easy to do as it is in the PCB editor. Please don’t say “Not sure why anyone would want to do what you ask about.”
Save and edit file with text editor and delete all s-expressions of type (wire …)? The schematic editor is a bit hamstrung until it gets an API it also does not have selection filters to make this easy.
Thanks joojala, that is doable, but of course a bit “strange”. Don’t we want “consistency” in this software, about the same functions and why not also shortcuts in all “editors”? As a user of a software I have no idea what API means. Please don’t get mad now, I like Kicad in many ways, but it can for sure get better… This question has been up for years, but nothing has changed to make it possible.
I dont develop kicad. The devs seem to be prioritizing more features in schematic editor.
They are not really interested currently at doing UX edits.
Nightlies have a selection filter in the schematic editor to match the board editor.
Development does not happen without time and effort.
At the risk of starting an unproductive discussion, I will just say: this is simply untrue.
Well if thiis is true where is your UX strategy posted.
What/where is that setting?
Just curious:
Are these filters in the schematic editor also going to be available via the context menu?
This was in the PCB editor before the appearance manager existed. Having both these methods seem a bit doubled up, but it does make sense to make this symmetrical, for the schematic and PCB editors.
There are no current plans to do that. You could open a feature request for it if you want.
Ah, thanks gkeeth, I didn’t see that first—good to see that added!
