A release candidate for the next stable release of KiCad is now available for testing on the download page of the KiCad website. Any help with regression testing would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any risks (compatibility issues, format changes, etc) associated with using release candidates for professional design work?

There are no intentional compatibility breaks or format changes. As with any new release, there is a chance of regressions or new bugs.

Chances of breaking / corrupting a project? Don’t mind bugs that might cause me to roll back just don’t want to break the project.

I think the chances are very low, but it is best practice to have a good backup/version control system in place so that if anything breaks a project (say, hardware failure in your computer even if there are no software bugs) you can easily recover.

Like all point releases, there are no file format changes, so if you find a reversion, you should be able to revert to 7.0.6 release version.I use Testing releases all the time, but have lost a days work only once and used a back up project file set.
