I’m new to this forum. Still a newbie using KiCad and still learning everyday to use this platform. I came from spending years on AutoCAD and Microstation platforms world dealing with standard electrical symbology for typical electrical schematics.
My assignment tasks me to create just schematic sheets for the project. Will not be dealing with PCB designs.
Anyone have library for just relay contact, like 2 lines NO and 2 lines with diagonal line NC? Not switch version in standard KiCad schematic library.
Also, looking library for mushroom PB E-Stop, stand alone and with added secondary NC contact.
I’m building out a child sheet and need the above symbologies,
If you need few and not hundreds of symbols than editing them yourself can be the simplest way.
When I started to use KiCad first what I have done was designing my own libraries waiting for KiCad V5 release. When V5 came I had in my library enough symbols/footprints to just start my PCBs.
I waited for V5 as I have read that it solves one important for me problem of V4 (via stitching).
First you need Personal Libraries as Kicad Libraries are read only. To make these personal libraries see this link or this FAQ.
When you have created your Libraries, find something in the Kicad libraries that is easily modified then “Save as” or “Cut and Paste” that Kicad Library symbol to a personal library and modify it to your requirements.
The below screen grab shows a Kicad Library DPST - NO switch I modified in about 5 min.
I changed the name, moved the contacts to NC, extended the dotted line, and placed some graphic lines and an arc on top.
All the tools needed are in the Symbol Editor either on the RH side of the screen or your RH mouse button.
