How to Import more libraries in Kicad other than digikey?
- For schematic symbols or for footprints? (or both?)
- Did you install the default KiCad Libraries?
I’m quite happy with the default libraries myself, and when I need some custom schematic symbol or footprint, my first choice is to draw it myself with the quite good schematic symbol and footprint editors in the KiCad package itself.
There are some extra libraries in the “Plugin and Content Manager” in KiCad. Some people are quite happy with libraries from websites such as PCB_Libraries of Snap_Eda.
I wanim looking for both libraries and i want to know how to get 3D models
You need to enter the new libraries into the library table. See “Manage Symbol Libraries…” and “Manage Footprint Libraries…” in the Preferences tab in the main program window.
To add a downloaded 3D model, you need to open that footprint in Footprint Editor, open footprint properties and navigate to the “3D models” tab in the popup window. Finally press the folder icon and find the downloaded 3D model. You might need to edit angles and coordinates to make the model line up with the footprint. I’m not really familiar where you can download stand-alone 3D models though.
