Ratsnest thickness can not be changed anymore

Hi all,

I am new to KiCAD and started yesterday with my first exercise in KiCAD Like a Pro4_Vol1.
I started with the first exercise LED torch.kicad_pro. I have drawn the schematic successfully, then I started the PCB-editor successfully, and carried out the command Update PCB from Schematic. And the data was imported into the PCB editor and looked fine as indicated in the manual.

However, I followed the next step stated in the manual @ page 135:

If the ratnest lines are too thin for comfortable use, you can increase their thickness via the Preferences window. Open Preferences, expand “PCB Editor” from the left pane, and select “Editing Options“. On the right side of the pane, look for the “Ratsnest” group and change the ratsnest line thickness to the desired value. I use “5”

When I changed in Preference > Editing Options the Ratsnest thickness to the value ‘5’ as stated in the manual, the Ratsnest thickness defaulted to 10. And now it remains at 10 and cannot be changed anymore.

I have created a new project from scratch, however, the problem still persist.

See attached screenshot.

Any idea what went wrong and how can I recover it .

Hello and welcome @Bachatero

Ratsnest line width is still accessed in in the manner you describe. What your example shows seems to be tracks.

See below: the green line is a ratsnest line. The blue lines are tracks of various widths.

To me both the color and the start / end points suggest these are ratsnest lines, but I don’t know why you can’t change it back anymore. Beginners often press “random” buttons, and this is more likely to expose lingering bugs.

What KiCad version are you using? Copy it from: Help / About / Copy Version info and then paste it in your post here.

Max. width of ratsnest lines is 10. My example here shows a 10 width ratsnest and an example of the OPs LED.
Something has gone wrong with the OPs PCB editor to get ratnest as wide as he shows.

This is why I originally thought the lines were tracks.
