I imported the graphics (DXF files) to PCB editor and convert it to gerbers. It looks like the picture on the left. However, I am wondering which actions can I take to make it like the picture on the right
? Another side question toward the Gerber viewer is that besides the ruler on the left tool bar, is there a more precise tool or feature to measure the dimensions of drawing?
You will need to clarify what you are trying to do here, as nothing I read and see makes any sense at all we all are here to help but I have no idea what youâre on about
Obviously, he wants to change the colors. But I donât know how to assign colors to tracks.
I think he simply wants to change the line width (track width) to a wider track . . . I think, itâs not really clear though.
Or perhaps its an image (on the right) of a flexible PCB ?
Obviously ! How dumb of me, itâs clear he doesnât like red tracks and wants to change the bloody theme. Whatâs your input here ? Obviously, itâs clear the answer to that is âF Allâ You donât know how to assign colours to the tracks 'eh ? well you could have tried the manual like the rest of us

Hey Everyone, thanks for helping. Just here to clarify⊠I made the flex drawing in Solidworks and export as DXF, then I imported to KiCad as Graphics and itâs showing exactly as the left part showed. The right side part is from vendors my company reached out to. I donât want to change colors, instead, I want to fill the copper traces on the left and make it look like the right side. You can see on the left side there are 6 rectancles representing six copper traces, I just want them to be filled like the right side. Is there a way to do it or itâs simply a import/export mismatch?
What donât you just draw them as zones, using the DXF as a template?
I guess another way of asking is that if there is a way I can just fill the space between the traces? I know KiCad can do âFill all zones (shortcut B)â, or under preferece there is a layer rendering for different layer, can I go from there? I tried all these options but looks like none of them workâŠ
Are you indicating drawing in KiCad instead?
I donât want to change the width, rather, I want to fill the space in between the traces? Is there a tool like the filling bucket in paint for KiCAD?
Nope, but you can simply draw a filled zone . . . unless there is a non-uniform shape.
Yes.
You can your your DXF as a template, but really - for something as trivial as a bunch of rectangles, just draw it in Kicad. Shouldnât take more than 5 minutes.
Hey everyone, I think this is a better demonstration or a bigger picture showing what I want to accomplish. The one above is what I received from the vendors, and below is what I imported to KiCad from DXF. I want the bottom one to be look like the one above. Does that make the goal more clear?
If you can select those outlines, you should be able to convert them to Zones. Just make sure all the vertices are coincident.
Assuming you have valid DXF.
Simply do; File>Import>Graphics
Import to desired layer or change layer after Import.
See video (yes, you can do Zones but, Polygon may be more suitable for your needsâŠ
You probably need to enter the group first and select your geometry.
