yes, in recent versions you can move a component using ā€˜D’ and tracks will remain connected.

You can indeed hover the mouse over a footprint, press d to drag it and the tracks will (sort of) follow the footprint. But this will quite often generate some DRC violations, and normally KiCad does not accept this and reverts the drag. You can force KiCad to accept the final position by holding the [Ctrl] key while clicking to end the drag. And after that you of course still have to clean up the DRC violations manually.

basically it only moves those connected to the component and not the adjacent ones that interfere
