Problem importing .mod files from CSE

I hereby certify that I am not simply asking someone else to design a footprint for me.

This is an auto-generated message that is in place on the “footprints” section of the KiCad.info forum. If I remove it and ask for a footprint to be designed anyway, I understand that I will be subject to forum members telling me to go design my own footprint or referring me to a 3rd party footprint site.

I am need to import some components to a project, and I have found what I need using CSE (Component Search Engine). This gives me access to a lot of formats, including KiCad.

I have found some videos and descriptions on how to do it, but none of them seem to work. I try to start Pcbnew, then open Preferences - Manage Footprint Libraries, add a new entry (+) and specify Plugin Type to be Legacy. I then browse down to the directory where the .mod file is stored, but I cannot see anything there, and if I try to select the directory, I get an error. I am running version 5.99 on Windows 10, but have also tried on Linux running version 5.10 - same result.
I can import symbol files, but not footprints

Regards

Ulf

don’t use .mod use the .kicad_mod, and find a tutorial for V5.

Thank you so much. You pointed me in the right direction, and I can now import footprints without any problems
