Power symbols and simulation

The normal power symbols all have the reference #PWR, and will work for ERC,
However, the simulation “power symbol” (more like simulation reference) has the reference #GND.
Is the #GND reference exclusively for simulation? Can I create my own 0 reference as #GND and use it for ngspice?
