I’m looking for feedback as to whether this is a bug or something to do with my setup.
In the list of libraries in the Symbol Editor, a single left click highlights a library.
However, ONLY, on the very first attempt, and ONLY the very first time Kicad is opened for use on a day, no matter which library is chosen to be opened, always the library at the very top of the list is highlighted.
After this first attempt to highlight a library, it always works correctly for the rest of the day.
The problem does not occur in the Footprint Editor, the PCB Editor or the Schematic editor (which has a different arrangement).
The problem occurs only the first time a library in the Symbol Editor is selected (highlighted) after the computer is turned on for the first time in a day.
Rebooting the computer will not show the problem. Computer needs to be off for some time (hours).
Re phrase: After the first attempt to select (highlight) a library, the next attempt, immediately afterwards, correctly selects the required library, and every attempt to select a library in this editor is perfect until the next day, after the computer has been off for a few hours.
Oh both 7.0.2 & 7.99
As I wrote above, it is a silly little problem that has taken me weeks to isolate as I only have one chance every day.
No, but the fault is only in the list in the Symbol Editor. The PCB & Footprint editors work the same way and the problem has never occurred there.
Also, I may have spent an hour or three on Kicad, or this forum or something else before I enter the Symbol editor.
I will try a different mouse tomorrow… stay tuned
As I wrote, it is a silly little problem. May not even be Kicad. That is why I posted here.
All it means is the first time I select a library in the symbol editor, I have to select twice for the first library I wish to enter. Any further libraries are selected on first click.
