Is it possible to use polar coordinated in KiCad for placing a pin in the footprint editor?
Otherwise I would have to create a Excel table for calculating the positions and transfer them manually into KiCad.
I know abut “Ship P”, but this way I have to calculate the polar coordinates by hand.
Did I miss a tool for placing pads on circular positions?
OK, I’ll try this, but it seems only to work in the PCB-Editor, not in the Footprint Editor.
After installing it does not appear in the PCB editor, neither in the footprint editor
Best option: use the circular array tool (it’s a bit clunky in v8, but it does work). Then delete any pads you don’t want and use the “Renumber Pads” tool to set all the numbers quickly.
Where is this tool?
I don’t find it.

Might “Position relative to” set to Polar Coordinates be of some help ?
It’s in the array tool, second tab:
There’s quite a detailed description of it in the manual, but the best way to understand how to use it is just try the options.

As said above: I know the “Shift P” tool, but this way I have to calculate the polar coordinates by hand and have to transfer them a well.
The “Circular Array Tool” which johnbeard mentioned seems the way to go, I just don’t know how to execute it.

Thanks John, that is exactly what I was looking for!
You saved my day!"

You may find this Excel Polar to Cartesian Calculator I designed useful.
