I have read the docs and watched Chris’ video on creating a new power plane. It all looks so easy, except that it doesn’t work! In this video Chris selects the Add Filled Zones button on the right, then starts drawing a polygon (rectangle) on his board. When he has completed his polygon, he double-clicks, and his new zone appears! I wish I could do that! I follow those same steps, then double-click upon polygon completion, then my (carefully drawn) polygon goes poof! I have to be doing something wrong. Please help me.
Kicad version 4.0.2 on Win7 SP1 64-bit.
After you selected the tool and clicked the first time into the pcb area… can you make a screenshot of the Copper Zone Properties dialog that comes up and post it here please?
If that’s your first zone (no other there) then it should just work… check your settings in the red marked area and confirm that the layer you’re creating the zone on is visible.
If you got a zone down already and you are trying to put another one in the same area make sure the priority setting (blue marked) is different as otherwise the zone indeed will not be created and there will be no warning (unless you have set the same net as the zone that’s already there - then the two will be merged into one).
OK, @Joan_Sparky, here it is:
Activate layers F.Cu and B.Cu please.

That did it, @Joan_Sparky. When I double-click, my polygons complete and no longer go poof! Thanks!
