Pcbnew and footprint editor stopped working! - help [solved]

Hello, I am having the same symptoms of this topic ([solved] Can't open 'Pcbnew' or 'PCB footprint editor'. KiCad immediately closes), though everything worked just fine up until yesterday. I’m in the middle of a project and the timing is horrible!

I have tried reinstalling 4.0.2 from the download to no avail.

The only thing that has changed is that I installed Anaconda – an Python distribution with other tools.

Any way to troubleshoot this?

Your Anaconda installation, was it Python 2.7 or 3.5?

It was 3.5. I ended up being able to fix this by uninstalling anaconda and another python install and then reinstalling Anaconda 3.5.
