I’ve done a search on this, and I am assuming it a me issue vs a software issue but I can’t get it to work.
I have parts as they get dumped out from Update PCB, with arbitrary locations that don’t match the grid. I am using a metric grid to make building the case easier using human readable numbers.
I am 100% sure that in the past when I drag items, they would snap to the grid. At the moment whilst parts are moving in increments of the grid they don’t snap to them.
Searching says to check 2 settings:
Common - Warp mouse to origin of move object (Enabled, but disabled doesn’t seem to change anything)
PCB Editor - Display Settings - Snap to grid (Always)
If you can move a pad (item) with grid increments, then grid snapping works, and it is not a grid issue.
You probably want to move a pad (item) from “off grid” to “on grid”. To do this, first snap to your item (pad), and then drag it until it snaps to a grid point. I assume that the magnetic points are set wrong, so you can’t snap to your pad in the first place. Have a look at (and experiment with, (just looking does not help) PCB Editor / Preferences / Preferences / PCB Editor / Editing Options / Magnetic Points
