When I update the pcb from the schematic it gives me a second C13. This first one is already on the layout. The new one is off the board to the side with ratnest connections. I just delete it but I would like to know how this happens. Still on ver 8.
When you did the update what options did you have ticked ? can you show a snip (partial screen grab)
There is an option to delete footprints with no corresponding symbol . . . obviously you can’t have two C13 symbols . . .
Somehow you lost the connection between the first C13 and it’s schematic symbol. This happens if you for example cut the capacitor symbol on the schematic, and then paste it. Normally KiCad uses UUID’s to match schematic symbols with footprints on the PCB. You can override this with the option Re-link footprints to schematic symbols based on their reference designators in the screenshot shown by RaptorUK.
