Pads Not Visible (Tracks Are...)

Okay, I have a puzzling problem for all you seasoned KiCAD users… I am stumped!

Suddenly, out of nowhere, both Thru-Hole and SMD pads are no longer visible whereas all of the tracks connected to them are. The pads appear to be in sketch or outline mode as only their outlines are visible. I should add that when I view my project in 3D, the pads are visible.

I (believe) I have clicked on every button possible to bring the pads back to visible mode but have not been successful. All of the Layers are visible as are all of the Object boxes set to visible and the Opacity sliders are slid far right to 100% I presume.

Out of frustration, I uninstalled and reinstalled (and updated) KiCAD. I did not save any project files or settings. Upon rebooting after the install, I opened up a new project using what libraries came with that fresh install only to have the same issue of non-visible pads again, top or bottom.

I then updated Windows and did another fresh install of KiCAD to no avail, the pads are simply not visible.

So now I am thinking that something has changed in my system or graphics settings because I can take a board designed on my home computer to work and viola! all the pads are visible!

Anybody care to shed some light on what I am experiencing? Please…

I tried to upload a screenshot but was not able, sorry…

Thanks in advance!

Maybe this is chosen?

I’m glad you brought that button up! That same icon on my screen reads, “Show vias in outline mode”. I do not have a separate button for Pads.

As a matter of fact, I added a via to my design and the pads of the via display correctly, and when I click on the icon, the pads switch to outline as they should.

So the fact that I do not have the pad icon you have shown may be a clue as to what is wrong. Any thoughts?

Thank you!

The icon above (the blue six pin IC) the via icon.
@3Dogs screen is showing the description below the icon in question.
