Oversize margins on 2nd display (need help)

I am an Eagle user switching to KiCAD (v6.07) and have an annoying GUI issue. I have a dual monitor setup with a 13-inch laptop screen at 2256x1504 resolution and a 21-inch monitor at 1920x1080 resolution.

When I open KiCAD schematic editor on my laptop screen it displays an editor window with icons that fit in the surrounding margins. However when I move or open the editor to my 21-inch display the surrounding margins are much too wide for the icons.

I found the icon size preference setting however this only seems to change the size of the icons and does not change the margins to match. Is there a way to correct this as I am losing a lot of screen to oversized margins?
