Presently the PCBNew export generates a complete model with as much detail as the associated STEP files offer.
This is really handy for visuals and some detailed mCAD work. However, it can be slow to import such large models into a 3D package (FreeCAD, even NX with 64gig of RAM), 1000parts ranging from 0402 to large axial capacitors.
is there anyway, (or maybe this is a wishlist) to export a step but provide a cuboid representation instead of the details. This would be handy for simple mCAD checks before a detailed render is used.
