I am using kicad 8, and i used kicad 7 before. But I can not use 3D viewer in PCB editor. Everytime i open it it says my OpenGL version is not supported, the minumum required version is 1.3,
But the problem is when I use OpenGL viewer extension I see that my OpenGL version is 3.1.0.
Did anyone else have this problem and how did you solve it, please help me.
I attached picture below.
In 8.0.3, OpenGL info is now shown in version info.
- Open 3D viewer, then go to Help → About KiCad → Version.
- Check if it’s using the correct GPU in “OpenGL:” line.
- Update drivers for that GPU, or switch to another GPU via Windows Graphics settings.
This https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000059251/graphics.html seems to suggest you have to install an additional driver for OpenGL in addition to the card driver.
Resolution
OpenGL*, OpenCL*, and Vulkan* drivers must be installed separately, and are only distributed with the game or application that requires it.
It is also suggested on the Internet to delete “Nvidia Enhanced Display” driver.
But it should be possible to choose the GPU from Windows Graphics settings anyway.
