On Mac: Don’t know what happened (again) but all of a sudden again none of the 3d libraries symbols shows up in the PCB/3d-viewer. I have checked the best I can the “configure path” and so on but no idea what’s wrong. I have uninstalled (and removed included preferences files also) with no luck. This drives me crazy.
What is your KiCad version?
I use OSX 10.15.7 and Kicad seem to have made “something” to the system after installing version “kicad-unified-20210927-020824-5f3c67bd2b.dmg” (5.99.0-12569-g5f3c67bd2b).
Today I seem to have fixed it again, at least temporary, after uninstalling all Kicad files (5.99.0-12569-g5f3c67bd2b) on this OS and copying the old “installed” version from another SSD (5.99.0-9501-gb8a96dbfc5) (=another OSX boot).
But no matter what, even if I now can see the 3d files again in the projects which are possible to open, I get different errors when opening most files, kind of scary, most files are not even possible to open (schematics missing/PCB missing) and other files get text error messages like “14:38:50: Expecting ‘version’ in ‘/Users/USERNAME/Desktop/FILENAME/empty.kicad_wks’, line 2, offset 2. 14:38:51: Expecting ‘version’ in ‘/Users/USERNAME/Desktop/FILENAME/empty.kicad_wks’, line 2, offset 2.” or message " Error loading schematic file “/Volumes/USB-DRIVE/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/FILENAME.kicad_sch”.
“Expecting ‘symbol, paper, page, title_block, bitmap, sheet, junction, no_connect, bus_entry, line, bus, text, label, global_label, hierarchical_label, symbol_instances, or bus_alias’ in “/Volumes/USB-DRIVE/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/LOCAL SUBPATH/FILENAME_sch”, line 3, offset 4"
I agree there may be long paths to the project files (in this text named “LOCAL SUBPATH”) but most files could be opened before yesterday. Haha, oh what a mess! Btw, I also tested to move a non working project folder to the desktop to open it from there – didn’t help. I guess the projects somehow have got destroyed now…
Please open an issue on the bug tracker (GitLab). We’ve recently performed some changes in how paths are processed, this is probably related.
