Odd (to me) 3D-mouse behaviour

No UI-category here. So excuse me for posting this in “software”. And move it to somewhere else if there is a better place.

So since years, I do have a 3dconnexion mouse. I even have a serial logitech mouse that is no longer of any use. It worked in KiCAD, but somehow quit working. Now, I found it does work again.
But the behaviour is very odd to me. I use the mouse in mechanical 3D-CAD frequently, so my brain is hardwired to my left hand that manipulates the mouse. In 3D-CAD, the mouse moves the object. In KiCAD, the view is moved. That is the opposide of what I’d expect. Mouse push/pull moves the view up/down instead of zooming.

OK so, change the settings of the mouse! Well, that works in layout, but in schematices, the mapping is different. And there is no way to change settings specific to layout or schematic (I don’t bother for symbols and footprints).

But what is even more odd is the fact that the mouse quits working after having opened the 3D-viewer.
All this isn’t something that stops me from using KiCAD, but I’d like if that would work in a natural way. With natural, I mean like in Catia, Alibre, FreeCAD. They all behave the same. Except KiCAD.

In schematics and layout, you only need left/right, up/down, zoom in/out.
The 3D-viewer should additionally support tilt and rotate.

Just one annoyed user who thinks the 3D mouse should be fixed.

My 3 cents.
I didn’t used any 3D software before in 2017 I run KiCad for the first time. It took me no more than 10 minutes to fall in love with how the mouse wheel works in KiCad (zooming in/out and centering the point you start zooming). In about 1s without any click I am able to be at any PCB position with any zoom I want. No one will convince me that this isn’t a brilliant solution. I have never before met such mouse behavior.

I suppose KiCad mouse behavior in 3D tries to be consistent with 2D behavior in PCB as much as possible. 3D in KiCad is only the supplement so being effective in 2D is first to be considered.

I offer 4 cents!
I’m not talking about a normal desktop mouse, I’m talking about a 3D-mouse. AKA space mouse.
Like this: SpaceMouse Compact - kompakte 3D-Maus - kabelgebunden - 2 Tasten
The common mouse works like expected, no complaining about it.
