Odd behavior with P-CAD files

I have a copy of KiCAD 8.0.8 on my work PC (Win11 23H2) and when I tried to import a schematic file that was created with P-CAD 2000 (v15.10.17), KiCAD complained, then when I tried to move on and work on something else, while the program did NOT freeze, nothing worked. I couldn’t even quit the app (had to use Task Manager to close it - even so, it took two tries). I tried again to confirm it was repeatable, and the second time the app did crash.

So, I just wanted to put this out there in case anyone wonders whether P-CAD files work with KiCAD.

Sounds like you had a KiCad window/dialogue/error box still open but hidden somewhere waiting for you to close/acknowledge.

But I can’t be sure obviously . . .

No dialog boxes. I tried closing everything else first before trying to reproduce, then hit ALT-TAB afterwards to make sure. KiCAD just doesn’t like trying to import P-CAD files for some reason.
