'NPTH, mechanical' hole generates holes in both PTH and NPTH drill files

In v6, when adding ‘NPTH, mechanical’ holes to a footprint and there is copper on top and bottom layer (‘F.Cu and B.Cu’), said holes appear in both the PTH and NPTH drill files.

This is odd. Is that normal or is it a bug?

I created a little test project (See attachment), and I can NOT confirm this.
In my test project the plated and the not plate hole show up in the different drill files with no overlap.

A possible cause is that you accidentally placed two holes on top of each other in the footprint. Maybe it’s something else…
If you are still experiencing this, then make a comparable test project with your troublesome footprint, zip it up and post it here.

Thanks. This was created in v7, with which I tried your project and can confirm the problem is not there.

Cannot open your project in v6 though. But I reedited my project in v6, and can confirm there weren’t two holes on top of each other. But I noticed that the problematic footprint had 2 ‘NPTH, mechanical’ holes with ‘F.Cu and B.Cu’, but both the pad and hole had identical diameter. I changed copper options to ‘None’ and the problem disappeared. Similarly, if I re-enable copper but set a pad diameter larger than the hole, the problem does not occur either. After these experiments, if I set the hole options as they were initially (same diameter for hole and pad), the problem does not come back either. Weird, but I’m assuming the footprint was ill-formed in some way. This thread can be closed as it seems, thanks for your time.
