Non-schematic BOM items?

Greetings -

I’ve got a number of hardware items such a sockets, screws, nuts, washers, stiffeners, and brackets that need to be included in the BOM but don’t have symbols or footprints. Yes, I know that I COULD create symbols but these would just clutter an already busy schematic.

Suggestions would be appreciated

Why don’t you add a subsheet to the schematic for those items?

What no kitchen sink?

Stow them away in a child sheet.

If you’ve got too many external items, then maintaining a separate list is probably easier. How far do you want to go? Do you want to put the enclosure, packaging material and postage stamps also in the BOM?

Maybe put a text note on the schematic with a filename which has the list of extra items.

Probably a valid point. This is PCB creation software. Doesn’t the cvs format allow you to merge other stuff?

Thanks, folks -

I’ll work with one of these ideas.

This is usually done in other 2D-3D modeling programs… ipc standard is not about bolts with nuts… Of the free freecad librecad… There you can design all this beautifully
