When I click the Bitmap2Component icon an icon is created on my taskbar (W10) but I can get no interface to use Bitmap2Component. I have need for this app. How do I get it to cooperate?

Out of curiosity. Which kicad version are you using, and what operating system?
KiCad 4.0.7, Windows 10 Home Ver. 10.0.17134 Build 17134
FTR: I re-installed KiCad and that did not fix the problem.
Looking on my laptop (windows 7, but same kicad version)
It opens OK, it also draws in the log on kicad
bitmap2component.exe opened [pid=6272]
What I would suggest is, when it appears on the task bar, can you see it preview it? If so right click the program and select maximize, It may have appeared off screen, and annoyingly windows stores program starting in registry which may not clear on a reinstall,

You’re on the money again. Hovering over the taskbar logo produced an image of what should be, moving the cursor over that and RMC provided the option to maximize. With a bit of fiddling I got it to appear and stay on screen - then I could resize it to something manageable.
It now appears when I call it up again.
