Newbie: Cut-n-paste part of schematic?

I’m trying to do something simple, and it must be user error that prevents me from doing it. I’d like to select a portion of a schematic and cut-n-paste it into a drawing program, so that I can create a simple image file, that I can post to a forum to ask a question. I’ve tried cutting and pasting into Gimp and Inkscape without success. What am I overlooking?
An alternative would be to cut-n-paste my portion into a new KiCAD drawing, which I can do fine, but the new drawing comes with a title block. I tried to read about how to create a schematic without a title block, but it seems to involve the Appearance panel, which seems to be only on the PCB board editor. Any advice on how to accomplish the task of removing the title block and border from a schematic?
Thanks for your guidance and advice. I really enjoy working with KiCAD and appreciate all the people who support it in various ways.

Schematic is not stored as a graphic so when cut it can’t be understand by programs like Gimp.
You have to get a screen-shot. In Windows I do it by Shift+PrintScreen and then Ctrl+V in graphic program.

Cut and paste does work between different KiCad schematics, or through te hierarchy of a single schematic, but it’s not in a graphics format. KiCad uses a text based description. Just for fun, try to cut some part of a schematic, and then paste it in a text editor.

If you want a bitmap, then either take a screenshot as Piotr suggested, or use: Schematic Editor / File / Plot to export a schematic in one of several vector based formats.

@paulvdh and @Piotr , thank you both very much, both for your explanations, and for two work-arounds. That’s enough to get me started.

Thanks, again.

And if you don’t want to grab the WHOLE screen, you can use the Win 10 “Snipping Tool”…
