New PCB Design

Hello,
I have designed a PCB board for a simple 555 timer synth using some information partly posted online.
I was wondering if you all could take a look. Let me know of anything you think I should change add. One thing I was not sure of was should I add a new footprint for some of the items that do not have 3d footprints, or is it ok the way that it is?

One thing I will say is I would like to make this board much smaller, and I am not sure how.

I hereby certify that I am not simply asking someone else to design a footprint for me.

This is an auto-generated message that is in place on the “footprints” section of the KiCad.info forum. If I remove it and ask for a footprint to be designed anyway, I understand that I will be subject to forum members telling me to go design my own footprint or referring me to a 3rd party footprint site.

Regarding the size, I’m guessing you don’t have anything on the Edge.Cuts layer. If you haven’t already, check out the Getting Started guide in the documentation. Getting Started in KiCad | 8.0 | English | Documentation | KiCad

In general, this forum has to focus on KiCad-specific questions so design reviews are not in scope. EEvblog or similar forums have dedicated spots for beginner help, so I’d encourage you to post there. If you choose to, I’d suggest including the schematic and PCB layout. The 3D view is not terribly useful for this kind of design (and the lack of 3D models is also generally not important).

In the PCB-Editor, draw a rectangle in the layer “edge-cuts” to give your board the shape you want.

For the 3-D parts: It is just eye candy for the 3-D viewer. It doesn’t make your board better. It only makes you pride.

Edit: Beaten by a few seconds.

Awesome advice from above :slightly_smiling_face: However our ’ projects ’ area is probably your best bet ! to be honest with you the projects section really depends if somebody has the time or inclination to help, the exact definition of its use unclear to me :upside_down_face: Please pop your topic there. The Doc’s are the place to start then pop back ! :grinning:

Just repeating what everyone else has written.
Asking about a PCB, and posting a 3D image, is a waste of time. To get any reply, please post your Schematic and PCB.

To be able to post multiple images, please read this FAQ.
