I would like when I select one net on my schematic, my net on board with track and rats nest to appear highlighted.

The setting you are probably looking for is “highlight cross-probed nets” which allows you to highlight nets in the schematic editor and see them highlighted in the layout editor. To highlight nets, hover the mouse over a wire or label and press the backtick ` key (hotkey can be changed). If it doesn’t work initially, you may need to enable the setting in KiCad Settings > PCB Editor > Display Settings > Cross-Probing > Highlight cross-probed nets.
