Net classes not being applied to nets during routing

Hello,
I am using: KiCad PCB Editor
Version: 6.0.1-79c1e3a40b~116~ubuntu20.04.1, release build
Platform: Linux 5.4.0-96-generic x86_64, 64 bit, Little endian, wxGTK, xfce, x11
Build settings:
KICAD_USE_OCC=ON
KICAD_SPICE=ON

Before routing I set the net classes ie trace width, via size etc.
When I begin routing, the net width is not what I set in the net classes.

For each straight section of the net, I have to go into properties and click the box that
says “use net class widths”. That changes the net width to what was set in net classes.

Is there a global “use net class widths” somewhere.
