Net classes colours not matching

Hi everyone,

I have assigned a colour to each of my net classes in the schematics and I can see the same classes and colour in the configuration window/panel in the PCB editor. However, I cannot find a way to automatically assign those colours to the PCB view (i.e. the copper layers). I have a lot of classes and it’s getting quickly annoying. And yes, the colours are turned on (ratsnet, copper, etc).

Is it possible? If yes, how? If not, why and will it be added?

Thanks

EDIT : I 've made a ticket to request the feature: [Feature request] Copy net classes'colours from schematics to pcb (#16908) · Issues · KiCad / KiCad Source Code / kicad · GitLab

Schematic colors are for the schematic. Board colors are for the board. Many people use a light background for schematics and a dark background for the board, and the same color doesn’t look good or have high enough contrast in both places. Some people may want colors only in the schematic, or only in the board.

You could file a feature request to have a button to copy them in one direction or the other, but they will never be automatically the same colors.

At present time (AFAIK) the only way to easily do it for the PCB is by double-Click the Color next to the Layer-Label and change the colors as desired (to match those in your Schematic).

That will set the Track color on the PCB to those colors. And, you can create a New Color Scheme for it (and for as many different projects as needed).

The OP’s requirement is not Colour per Layer but Colour per NetClass.

Yes, I know that and some effort on OP’s part can lead to (screenshot)

Clarification…

As craftyjon said “…a button to them in one direction…” implying, there is no One-Click solution.

And, as I said “…(to match those is your Schematic)” further implying no One-Click solution but, rather an optional approach until that Button is available…

That’s a good point. Though I think it makes sense/makes life easier to have corresponding colours between the schematics and the PCB.

I’ll file a feature request.

Thanks!
