My microstrip patch circuit appears flipped across the Y axis. Why is that?

I’m trying to draw a patch array antenna circuit in KiCAD. It consists of a grid of rectangular metallisations.

However, when I use the built-in 3D preview tool in KiCAD (and also when I export to Gerber and view the result in an online Gerber viewer), the circuit appears flipped!

Could someone please explain why this is happening, and if there is a setting I can change so the gerber is not “flipped”?

Uncheck View → Flip Board View in the menu or in Appearance panel → Layer Display Options.
