Is there a way to design a top footprint which are located at different height / layers? I would like to performed the rooting on a ceramic package but my ceramic is a cavity and have components mounted on different layers → footprint on different layers
This is not supported by KiCad at the moment. You are now however mentioning the third person mentioning LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) in a short while. Maybe you could team up and contact https://www.kipro-pcb.com/ to sponsor some custom development in this direction.

Thanks for the feedback, that was my understanding but i was not sure! You are correct, this would be needed for LTCC or HTCC technology.
There was a similar request last year. Parts on exposed “inner” layers are becoming more common
You are correct, a different application but same needs. Inner layers will certainly become more important in the future!
