Hi,
is there a way to have a PCB made with Kicad and use the multicolor option of JLCPCB.
They explain the ordering process but using EasyEDA.
Can the file be generated with kicad and some other software ?
or is it possible to import the gerber in EasyEDA to then work on the multicolor silkscreen part in EasyEDA ?
This was discussed in EEVBlog last year:
And also here:
I’m not aware of any progress in using it without EasyEDA. But you should probably ask in EEVBlog. Or make it your challenge project, then tell us how you did it.
Well in the reality I already asked to JLCPCB and they gave ma a kind o anwer.
Just upload the drawing or the picture and give them the instructions about the Upper and the lower part … Till now there is not any other possibility
You can import a multicolor png or jpg in kicad to see the result, or you can import the 3d pcb and part models in FreeCad and import the image. Then you can see if everything is correctly aligned. Then add the image to your gerber project and send it to jlcpcb with some instructions. It should be enough.
The issue is: JLCPCB doesn’t get this way
It is clearly stated you can upload your image and give details.
I don’t see any issue in working with kicad…
yes right, perhaps I didn’t correctly got your point.
However as I said, JLCPCB told me already that process in chat about KiCAD
For Easy EDA everything still working the same as you described. But for kicad is something else.
I repeat it again:
- Upload the gerber files
- Send them in attachment (email, in case, with the order reference) also the picture
- Specify the TOP of the picture that should be coincident with the TOP of the PCB
That’s it.
however I didn’t have the occasion to put it in practice yet
