Moving some pins to another unit in an existing part?

I started building a symbol for the FTDI FT232HPQ IC, which didn’t seem to already exist.

After I created all the pins, I realized I should probably group them into units. So I went to the symbol properties and changed the unit count to 5, and unchecked interchangeable.

It seem to have duplicated all the pins into all the units. I can tediously go through the pin table editor and remove one pin at a time from each unit, but surely there is a better way?

How can I create the units without duplicating pins, and after that, how can I move groups of pins to specific units?

Here’s what seems to work for me.

After reaching the step with the duplication, go to units B to E, select everything, then exclude the box by Ctrl-Left on that, then Delete. This will leave just the box, the refdes and the value. For the last unit you probably need a different box. Or maybe you need to recreate all the boxes anyway since they will have less pins so you should also delete the box and make new ones. Now edit the pin table and change the unit of the pins as appropriate.
