Moved design to v7, pours not following pads anymore?

Hi all,

In my v6 design I have one component rotated 45 degrees and the GND copper pour then also follows the rotation and places the spokes with 45 degree rotation.
However when I updated to v7 this does not happen anymore, the thermal spokes do not rotate with pads and the pads are now connected on the diagonal.

Is there some way to get the v6 behavior in v7 for the copper pour and thermal relief spokes?

v6 vs v7:

Can you share the design, for example after stripping it down to this detail which could be tested directly?

Absolutely!

The project is available here (v6 format, not updated yet): GitHub - korken89/rusty-tracker at ublox
If you open it in v7 without repouring the “correct” (v6) thermal spokes are there and after repour you will see the “v7” effect.

NOTE: Checkout the the ublox branch after cloning.

There’s probably a bug. Some combination of the footprint angle, pad angle and spoke angle (in pad properties → Clearance Overrides and Settings → Thermal Relief Overrides) doesn’t work.

Oh, that’s unfortunate!

How does one go about reporting this bug? Is it possible to link to this thread somehow?

I think I figured it out and opened Moved design to v7, pours not following pads anymore (#14201) · Issues · KiCad / KiCad Source Code / kicad · GitLab

sorry, I’m a lttle late with my answer.

First, your bugreport is not bad for the first version. Two points remain:

  • pointing to the original forum thread is good,
  • but include your original pictures (from this thread) directly in the gitlab issue
  • and also attach the project archive (as zipped project-file) directly in the gitlab issue, not only the link to the project-repository

Second I think the issue is already fixed (see Thermal reliefs connected with wrong angle (#13919) · Issues · KiCad / KiCad Source Code / kicad · GitLab), you could try the actual v7.0-testing-version or wait until the release of v7.0.1
At least with my installed version (3 days old) I can’t reproduce your pictures anymore.

Indeed, I got the same recommendation from Jeff and it did solve the issue!
So it was known and fixed

You got good practice for your next bug report.
