Move command snapping to different places in different projects

Hello,

I have a footprint that I produced where I put the mechanical centre of the foorptint at the centre of the footprint in the footprint editor. In some projects when I hit “M” or move my intended centre of the footprint snaps (anchors?) to the mouse, but in other projects the anchor point seems to be somewhere average of the centre of all the parts? Is this a setting or a bug?

It has only become a problem since Kicad 9, was wondering if its a feature I dont understand.

edit: I notice drag “D” does it correctly

Assuming you mean “mechanical centre” to be the “footprint anchor”: D always places the cursor on the anchor, but M only places the cursor on the anchor if other items are not closer to the cursor; eg. pads or text.
I think this feature? was available before 9.0.0
