Module/Footprint pin assignment

I’ve got a 5-pin SOT-223 package that I want to appear as a 3-pin LDO in the schematic.

What would be the best way to connect multiple pins of a module/footprint to a single pin in the schematic in KiCAD? Do I have to edit the module and set the same pin name/number for the pins I want to connect? Or is there a designated way to assign symbol pins to module pins?

I think there is a way to make schematic symbols with hidden pins, but I would recommend using a 5 pin symbol and connecting the pins appropriately.
