Missing footprints

Am working with the Kicad version 6. In my project i have realized some footprints are mission from the footprint editor. How do I add new footprints? Am new to pcb design

Each KiCad footprint is a separate file. I (working in V5) use file manager to copy one of KiCad footprints to one of my footprint libraries and I see that footprint in footprint editor to modify what I want and to Save As if want to change name.
My footprint libraries are simply *.pretty directories that I have added to library list in Preferences - Manage Footprint Libraries.
