PCB Editor / View / Show Search Panel You can select footprints here, but KiCad does not pan to them. With the t hotkey in the PCB Editor you can also fetch a footprint and attach it to the cursor without knowing it’s previous location.
Have you already discovered cross probing between the schematic and PCB editors?
Overall, KiCad is not eagle, and it works differently. Instead of searching for exact equivalents of what you used to use, you will be better of by just experimenting a bit with how things work in KiCad and adopt to it.
