Hi,
I had to make a resistor with stand-off pillars, so I modified an existing library Item by enlarging the pads to 3.5mm with 2mm holes. I then re-drew the courtyard after deleting the existing one. I tried individulal lines or a rectangle but still got “Component has malformed courtyard (not a closed shape)” and “Component has malformed courtyard (self-intersecting)” . It turned out that there was a sectionof the old courtyard under the re-sized pads. The clue semed to be that the markers were inside the new pads when DRC was run.
Another lesson learned that took a couple of hours to find!

If you right click in the Appearance Manager you can quickly hide all layers (or another preset) and then only enable the courtyard layer to see what is on it.
In addition to the RMB-click context menu to disable all layers you can also cycle through the 3 display-modes:
- normal display mode
- DIM mode
- Hide mode
Available on the right appearance manager or with a hotkey.
