Hello, I am new to the forum and KiCAD, so I apologize for my learning curve.
When I first open the eeschema portion of KiCAD the default zoom position is with the sheet halfway off the bottom of the screen leaving the top half of the screen in open space. I can manually re-zoom the position; if I hit ‘auto-zoom’ ( Cmd 0 ) it zooms back to the half off screen position. It didn’t do this when I first installed KiCAD about a month ago; this started the other day. Any thoughts as to what caused this and how to change it? I’m using a 2014 Macbook running El Capitan.
On a second note, while I’m at it, is there any way to lock the zoom position or to turn off being able to zoom via the scroll wheel/ touch pad? It’s pretty much impossible to use the software with the touch pad or Apple’s magic mouse because I can’t not accidentally brush my hand against the pad and completely move the screen sometimes. It’s no problem using my Logitech mouse (which is what I’ve been using) with the scroll wheel since it’s not as easy to accidentally push.
Thanks
Loading an existing schematic or brand new project/schematic?
Did you do anything to the install since installing that might have triggered this?
As for your mouse, check editor options (that’s Win7):

I found ‘schematic editor options’, which is under Apple’s preferences, and didn’t see an option that would lock zoom or turn off the touch pad zoom. It’s not a HUGE deal since I can just plug in my logitech mouse, it would just be more convenient if I didn’t have to do that.
I figured out what was wrong with zoom being off centered. To answer your question, it would open this way whether it was a new or existing project. One thing I didn’t notice when I posted yesterday day was that the entire bottom portion of the window was out of view. That got me messing around and I realized that somehow the window had gotten expanded to about double the height of the display and so the window was hanging off the bottom. It was awkward getting the window sized back the way it should since I couldn’t get to the part hanging off the screen but I’ve gotten it back the way it needs to be. Sorry to bother you with such a silly problem, but thank you for your reply and help.
