In Kicad 8.0.4, the Move function still selects an object, like a via, but now it and other stuff won’t move. The objects are unlocked. Did I accidentally set some setting that stops things from moving? At the same time, now when I zoom in, it doesn’t zoom in on the pointer arrow position but shifts the layout over at the same time it zooms. I tried restarting my computer and restarting Kicad but the problem persists. Does anyone know something I can do to get Move and zooming working again? I’m downloading Kicad-8.0.7 now, hoping it will fix it.
You mean it centers on the location of the pointer and moves that location and the pointer to the center of the view? That’s great, the best part of KiCad! But if you don’t like it, it can be changed in Preferences → Mouse and Touchpad → Center and warp.
As for Move, how did you initiate it, how do you know it’s in the Move tool?
“You mean it centers on the location of the pointer”
No, I said it stopped doing that.
I click the left mouse button while the arrow pointer is over an object and the object becomes highlighted. Then I hit the “M” key. Then I hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse but the object doesn’t move. I checked multiple times and the object is not locked. I’m not new at this. If I described the issue incorrectly, never the less the issue is there and my Kicad is not working like it was an hour ago.
Installed Kicad-8.0.7 and the problem went away.
Happy Holidays everybody!
