I have an outline of a I2C 16x2 LCD, then I painstakingly placed a hole for the contrast pot. How can I lock the contrast hole to the LCD so when I move the LCD, the hole moves too?
It is called Grouping in Kicad.
Use mouse to create a rectangular selection or hold Ctrl key down and use Left mouse click to highlight the footprints to be selected.
Right Mouse click and select Group (about three functions below Lock).
There are a number of ways to do this, which are low on the painstaking level .
Bottom middle of screen is dy/dx. Place mouse somewhere, press space bar, move mouse and watch dy/dx.
Sometimes switching to polar from cartesian can be helpful
Just above Locking and Grouping tools, there are Positioning Tools, four different ones. Well worth exploring.
Another option is to put the hole in the footprint itself.
