My design has a lot of small parts. When I drop it into PCBNew and start assembling them, I can’t easily find them even when using the local ratsnest tool on the toolbar.
Would there be a way to search for and select any part number … like “find me c27 and select it” so I can move it into position ?

It’s easy. Press ‘T’ in pcbnew. A window opens where you can insert the partsearch. The part is then on the cursor position.

Take a scan through the keyboard shortcuts (listing in the help menu). There may be a few more gems hidden in there for your workflow.
