Left mouse click key-press in Open GL mode?

Hi folks,

I love the hotkeys on kicad and when routing you can map the left keypress to the spacebar to really save you poor little left mouse click finger. However, it doesn’t seem to work in Open GL mode. Is that right or am I just doing something dumb?

Thanks

You need to specify what version of KiCad you are using. I have Return key (default for OpenGL) mapped for the left mouse click and it works fine in accelerated (OpenGL) canvas in nightly build version of KiCad. Keep in mind that hotkeys in legacy canvas are different form those in accelerated canvass.

Sorry, yes, I really should have remembered to put the version number on.

I’m on 4.0.6.

When you say accelerated canvas do you mean Open GL & Cairo? I couldn’t see a difference in the two modes when I went to the hotkey menu in Open GL. It was the same as how I’d set them in Default.

You right. For some reason I remembered them being different. I guess memory is the first to go

The canvases are called now Legacy (for legacy), Modern accelerated (for OpenGL), and Modern fall back (for Cairo).

I tried reassigning Space for the left mouse button click and it works just fine in nighlies.

OK, thanks. It looks like I need to wait for my Linux distribution to get a bit more up to date.
