hai,
in my design am giving pcb layer thickness,in board setup column, there are two column like ‘EPSILON R’ ’ LESS TAN’ .What is this what i have to give
these are the information about the dielectric constant and loss tangent, used for computing impedance and loss for traces that have contact with that pcb substrate layer.
for FR4 , the DC wil be 4.5 is a good start, and TAN theta will be maybe 0.03 at 1 GHz.
the loss tangent has frequency specificity. I will take a look at it, since I am new to kicad
OK so the defaults for FR4 here are 4.5 and 0.02 which sounds fine for general work. What PCB type are you using , FR4 ('fibreglass" ) or some exotic hydrocarbon teflon ceramic ?

am also fresh to kicad .am using this pcb for battery management system
well, the PCB electrical characteristics wont matter for that application, JUst watch your clearances if the voltages get > 50 V. See the IPC recommendations for creepage / clearances.
sure am making this with instruction, its my first pcb ,thanks
