Hello,
I have created some footprints of elements that require PCB cutouts (for impoved cooling), either a larger circular hole or a non-circular hole. For that I used Edge.cuts layer (via dxf import).
For smaller holse I can use NPTH created with pad tool but for holes larger than 6.4mm or irregular holes I have to use Edge.cuts layer because for example jlcpcb doesn’t drill holes larger than 6.4mm and from peoples comments they often forget milling layer in pcb manufacture, leaving only Edge.cuts as a reliable way for these things.
What I was not able to solve is how to specify clearances of copper fills to those cutouts. I can for example exclude a zone around an element in pcbnew but this has to be done separately in pcbnew, not in footprint (and is limited to polylines, e.g. not rounded or circular), which is obviously not a very good idea. On the other hand I can specify clearances from copper fill to pads but then this applies to every pad on that fill zone, which is also not a very good idea.
So is there a workaround that would allow specifying those clearances? If not, is it planned for v6?
Thanks and best regards,
Matej
