KiCAD V6 for Apple M1 MAX

Hi,

It is or it will be a version of V6 compiled for Apple M1 MAX (/ Monterey)?

Thanks,
Andrei

It’s on the todo list but not currently. It currently runs via Rosetta.

I’m wondering if rosetta emulation will not slow dow the 3D rendering for complex designs.

I’ve only heard that it runs perfectly fine so far but I don’t think anyone did any benchmarks.

macOS is mostly maintained by a single person for packaging, they got plenty to do and Apple is anti-developer and continually changes things at a whim and documents none of it in any known human language. M1 support will come, we just can’t commit to when.

Rosetta will not “slow anything down” in a meaningful way, given that the M1 machines are significantly faster than the older Apple hardware.
